Our scorecard examines records of voting and sponsorships in each house of the legislature on 16 key environmental bills addressing issues of clean energy, public health, transportation, and more. Out of these 16 bills, 12 of them passed both houses!
For thirty years, we’ve worked to lobby state and local elected officials on the environment, provide objective information about environmental policy to the public, and hold elected officials accountable. We began issuing a State Legislative Environmental Scorecard several years ago to further these goals and are now issuing our third annual State scorecard.
This year, the legislature had the best session for the environment in living memory, including two bold nation-leading policies on climate and transportation. This banner year is reflected in legislators’ high marks.
