New York City Council Environmental Scorecard 2015

One of our most important goals at NYLCV is to make sure elected officials keep to their promises when it comes to the environment. One of the ways we do this is by releasing our New York City Council Environmental Scorecard every year, which evaluates each member on their environmental record.

For 2015, session we chose 12 bills out of more than three dozen to evaluate. Three of these were designated as priority bills and were weighted twice in the final score.

You’ll find in the 2015 Scorecard that more than one-quarter of the council scored a perfect 100. The average overall score is 75.

With a critical update coming to OneNYC soon, the City Council will continue to play a crucial role in enacting and supporting the initiatives that will allow New York to meet its ambitious goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and making progress on our priority bills. We look forward to working together in the months ahead.

NYLCV is the only organization that produces an Environmental Scorecard to give an independent assessment of the City Council’s performance.
