We urge Governor Hochul and the New York State Legislature to focus on banning dangerous chemicals from all our consumer products and to provide enough funding to clean up the statewide lead pipe problem, among other public health imperatives. New Yorkers deserve nothing less.

Gov. Hochul is investing in mass transit, including through congestion pricing, to make it easier and better for commuters on rail, bus, and subway throughout the region to get out of their gas-guzzling cars and cut gridlock for those who must travel by car and truck. Murphy’s contribution to this visionary plan is to sue to stop it.

Gov. Hochul introduced the program as part of her 2023 State of the State address and on December 20, the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority and the Department of Environmental Conservation announced the next big step by releasing a pre-proposal outline and Climate Affordability Study.

If the city is serious about reducing air pollution and tackling the climate crisis, then we need to do more to get people out of their cars and onto bicycles and other clean transportation modes, and we can only do that by creating a safe and robust network of protected bike lanes across the city. 

On Wednesday, the New York City Council passed the City of Yes for Carbon Neutrality (COYCN) zoning text amendment, a wonky name for a mighty important change to the city’s zoning laws. The change will remove hurdles so the city can more easily make green investments for and changes to its infrastructure that will reduce or eliminate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from buildings and the transportation sector, the state’s two leading sources.

On a night where a record number of NYLCV-endorsed candidates faced election, nearly 9 out of every 10 NYLCV-endorsed candidates won or are ahead in their election last evening.
