Olena Nicks

Olena Nicks is running for the Nassau County Legislature in District 2. Growing up she witnessed firsthand the impacts of climate change and industrialization on neighborhoods like hers. She has been a vocal advocate for environmental justice, highlighting the disparities that disproportionately affect communities of color. Nicks has spoken out about the harmful effects of microplastics on both the environment and public health. In February 2022, she launched an online zero-waste shop to provide sustainable alternatives to everyday products, helping consumers transition away from single-use plastics and adopt more eco-friendly lifestyles. As a legislator, she is committed to improving Nassau County’s public transportation system and reducing financial barriers to hybrid and electric vehicle ownership. Nicks believes renewable energy and building the energy grid of the future is essential to Long Island’s long term prosperity and is dedicated to working collaboratively to ensure the best outcomes for all.
