Catalina Cruz, seeking election to the State Assembly, has proved to be a consistent supporter of efforts to address environmental concerns across the state. Formerly, Cruz served as Chief of Staff for Council Member Julissa Ferreras-Copeland, before moving on to be Chair of the New York City Council Finance Committee. Most recently she served as Served as the Director of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Exploited Workers Task Force. Cruz’s experience in these positions would serve as a valuable voice to have to further New York’s environmental progress across the state.
Cruz has shown to support all of NYLCV’s 2018 initiatives, specifically devoted to combating food waste and food insecurity and implementing necessary structures to allow the agricultural sector to produce healthy foods. Cruz also supports increasing the funding and resources to agencies who are charged with environmental protection and public health, as well as incorporating climate change science into emergency response plans, transportation planning, construction, and budget decisions.
