Jim Gennaro

Jim Gennaro is running for re-election to represent District 24 in the New York City Council. As chair of the Council’s Committee on Environmental Protection, Resiliency & Waterfronts, Councilmember Gennaro is committed to championing a pro-environment agenda. A focus of his work has been on holding the city accountable to its stated emissions goals and pushing for greater storm resiliency in the face of more frequent superstorms. Councilmember Gennaro has been awarded environmental accolades numerous times for his environmental work, including the EPA’s 2013 Environmental Quality Award for Lifetime Achievement in Public Service, the 2011 National Energy Leadership Award, the 2010 Distinguished Lifetime Service Award, the 2007 WE ACT for Environmental Justice Award, and the 2006 Hero of the Harbor Award from a coalition of over 300 civic organizations. If re-elected to office Gennaro is sure to win more environmental awards.
