Keynote Speaker: Eric Schneiderman

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman will keynote this year’s event. Attorney General Schneiderman has made environmental protection a centerpiece of his administration, tackling a wide range of critical issues including climate change, air and water pollution, energy efficiency, hazardous waste, and safe and healthy communities. Enforcing a zero tolerance policy against any environmental degradation in New York, Attorney General Schneiderman and his Environmental Protection Bureau have taken on a national leadership role on the environment as they protect us from threats both locally and in Washington.
We will also honor Con Edison as our corporate honoree. Con Edison is forging the path for a new energy future, providing its customers with renewable sources of energy including wind and solar, while converting thousands of large buildings from oil to cleaner natural gas. With its significant investments in smart meters, resilient cables, and flood-proof equipment, Con Edison has established itself as an innovative leader on the front lines of mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change.
This year’s Environmental Leader Honoree will be Christopher Buck. Christopher Buck is an entrepreneur and leading philanthropist in New York’s conservation movement. As president of the Peter and Carmen Lucia Buck Foundation, he helps to support organizations that preserve, connect, and develop open space for meaningful outdoor experiences; protect productive farmland; and advance land conservation through advocacy and training. He is also the founder and president of Retro Report, a digital news enterprise that examines major news stories after their headlines fade in order to assess the outcomes and connect the dots to our lives today.
