Jumaane Williams

Jumaane Williams is running for re-election as New York City Public Advocate. In his office as a former City Council Member and Public Advocate, he has championed policies to create a healthier, more sustainable city for future generations. As an elected official, Jumaane has supported efforts to curb car culture, improve street safety, and expand public transit access through increased federal, state, and local support. He has passed laws to make commuter vans in the outer boroughs safer and more accessible, incentivized cycling through the “Bike to Work” Act, and strengthened green building standards. His legislative record also includes requiring the city to adopt energy codes stronger than the state’s, promoting green construction, and mandating immediate repairs for hazardous fuel gas installations.
