Karen McMahon
Karen McMahon is running for re-election to the New York State Assembly in District 146. McMahon is a longstanding environmental advocate. She spent ten years serving on her local Environmental Advisory Committee, reviewing development projects for environmental impacts and has carried her environmental work into the Assembly as a member of the Environmental Conservation Committee. Within her first year in office, she had a role in banning plastic bags and securing substantial funding for clean water infrastructure. McMahon is a dedicated advocate for clean transportation, supporting the electrification of public transit fleets, lifting restrictions on zero-emission car sales, and establishing a clean fuel standard. She is a proponent of decarbonizing buildings, bolstering waste management efforts with additional funding, prioritizing cleaner energy sources, and increasing climate resilience. If re-elected, McMahon will continue to fight to allocate adequate funds for the environment, improve water quality protection and the elimination of toxic chemicals, preserve natural resources and farmland, and support green jobs and education.
