Farah Louis

Farah Louis is running for re-election to represent District 45 in the New York City Council. Councilmember Louis has prioritized environmental sustainability as a cornerstone issue that affects everyone in the City. During her time in the New York City Council, Councilmember Louis has championed several key environmental initiatives, sponsoring legislation that expands access to the Health Bucks program and farmers’ markets for SNAP recipients, helping to address both food insecurity and environmental sustainability by encouraging consumption of locally-grown produce, and reducing food transportation emissions. Councilmember Louis has been a vocal advocate for transition to a fully electric built environment to help our city’s climate goals. Beyond legislation, she has organized various community clean-up events, tree-planting initiatives in underserved neighborhoods, and educational workshops on sustainable living practices throughout her district. Councilmember Louis remains deeply committed to environmental justice, recognizing that our most vulnerable communities often face disproportionate burdens. If re-elected, she will continue advocating for policies that protect the environment while ensuring all New Yorkers benefit from cleaner air, water, and green spaces.
