Lynn Schulman is seeking re-election to represent District 29 in the New York City Council.

Councilmember Lynn Schulman is running for re-election to represent District 29 in the New York City Council. She has been a committed advocate for environmental sustainability in Queens and beyond. Schulman has played a key role in the Queensway project, securing millions in funding to transform an abandoned railway into a family-friendly linear park and cultural greenway, with phase one set to break ground in 2026. She has also worked to bring back community composting in Forest Hills and introduced a bill requiring the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to study the feasibility of capturing and sequestering greenhouse gas emissions from the city’s compost and sewage processing facilities. Additionally, Schulman has funded hydroponic lab programs in local schools to promote sustainable agriculture and has partnered with Green City Force, a nonprofit that trains NYCHA youth for careers in the green economy. If re-elected, Schulman pledges to continue championing oversight and enforcement of key climate policies while expanding green jobs, urban farming, and clean energy initiatives to build a more sustainable future for District 29 and New York City.
