We are deeply troubled by the administration’s attempt to gut decades of sound environmental regulations and the EPA’s absurd plan to shutter its environmental justice operations. The results will be as predictable as they are harmful: dirty air, contaminated water, exposure to toxic chemicals, and declining public health. These latest moves – coupled with their attempt to scuttle the endangerment finding – will harm Americans living in red and blue states alike, especially those in disadvantaged communities. It’s disappointing to see EPA Administrator – and former Long Island congressman – Lee Zeldin enthusiastically implementing policies that will harm his fellow New Yorkers. Permitting reform should not come on the lungs of our most vulnerable neighbors. This egregious attack on our environment and our health cannot be allowed to stand.
