“Today was a victory in the fight for a cleaner, greener, more affordable New York. We are grateful to Speaker Heastie, and our sponsor, Assemblymember Joanne Simon, took this important step forward by passing a bill to repeal the 100 foot rule, which harms New York’s transition away from fossil fuels and costs New York families an additional $200 million each year. Following last week’s passage by the Senate, we are one step closer to reducing costs for ratepayers. We urge Governor Hochul to sign this into law as soon as possible to stop the expansion of subsidized gas hookups now and protect every day New Yorkers.”
