“We cannot drive our way out of the climate crisis which means we need a fiscally stable mass transit system,” says NYLCV President Julie Tighe. “The New York League of Conservation Voters applauds Governor Hochul for standing up for public transit by including a comprehensive funding plan for the MTA in the Executive Budget, increasing State operating aid to $8.3 billion to address the fiscal cliff. We also applaud the Governor for continuing to stand firm on the implementation of congestion pricing, which will provide $15 billion in critical capital funding for the MTA and reduce air pollution by having fewer cars on the road. These investments will improve the safety, reliability, and accessibility of our public transportation.”
