Transportation Alternatives, a non-profit organization based in New York City that is striving to minimize automobile use and traffic, has launched the Bike Match initiative in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, we launched our New York City Climate Action Tracker. This powerful digital tool follows the city’s progress on its climate goals as outlined in Mayor de Blasio’s OneNYC plan.

In his 2020 State of the City address, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio emphasized climate change as a top priority for his administration.

The bustling streets of the Big Apple will soon be safer and greener. Last week, the City Council passed Speaker Corey Johnson’s bill requiring the NYC Department of Transportation to develop a citywide master plan for streets every five years - one of NYLCV’s policy priorities.

As part of a new sustainability project at JFK Airport in New York City, JetBlue converted the 2 most commonly used ground support vehicle types – bag tractors and belt loaders – to plug-in electric vehicles.

Last week, New York City took a big first step towards reimagining street space to promote efficient and sustainable transportation. After years of advocacy, Manhattan’s 14th street busway went into effect. The busway is a pilot program that prioritizes transit and pedestrian traffic. Only buses and trucks are allowed to drive between 3rd and 9th Avenues.
