The New York League of Conservation Voters issued the following statement in response to today’s presidential Executive Orders:
Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, said, “We are at the dawn of a new day for climate action at the White House. The executive orders that President Biden signed today mark the return of our role as a global leader on the environment. By affirming the nation’s commitment to protecting 30% of our lands by 2030, pausing fossil fuel extraction on federal lands, centering environmental justice, establishing offices and groups that will work on climate issues, and making sure that climate change is part of the White House’s decision-making, he is demonstrating that the climate crisis is a top priority. We are thrilled that the President is taking these actions at the scale necessary to avert a climate catastrophe and look forward to building on that work in New York.”
