The New York League of Conservation Voters released the following statement regarding the memorandum of understanding signed by Northeastern states committing to a Transportation and Climate Initiative program:
Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, said, “The transportation sector is the leading contributor to climate change and we need to act fast to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels in our vehicles. We thank the Northeastern states that are moving forward with the Transportation and Climate Initiative program that will increase investments in clean transportation options, slash emissions, and improve air quality in an equitable manner. There is still more work to do to make the program even more equitable for all, especially communities that disproportionately bear the burden of pollution. That’s why we hope that New York will continue to play a role in implementing a just and sustainable program.”
