We are thrilled to announce that tickets are available to our Long Island Cocktail Party on Monday, November 13th at Carlyle on the Green. This year we are excited to recognize champions for clean water on Long Island. SUEZ, a leading provider of water and waste services, is our Corporate Honoree. They are employing innovative new technologies and approaches to protect local waterways and precious ecosystems, reduce energy consumption, and ensuring a sustainable community for over 1.1 million people in Nassau County.
Our Environmental Leader awardees will be the Stony Brook Center for Clean Water Technology and the Long Island Regional Planning Council. Long Island’s environment and economy are severely threatened by rapidly declining water quality and new solutions are needed to effectively address this problem. The Center for Clean Water Technology is working to bridge science and technology gaps through a unique approach: facilitating concerted efforts between university and research institutions, regulatory agencies and private sector resources. The Long Island Regional Planning Council, serving as the Island’s Chief Planner, has also been a strong advocate for the region’s environment and in particular, the Island’s water resources. Accordingly, the State of New York has entrusted the Council with co-managing the State’s $5M Long Island Nitrogen Action Plan, which targets mitigating this critical pollutant.
Also joining us as special guests for this event will be Nassau County Executive-Elect Laura Curran, Nassau County Comptroller-Elect New York State Senator Kemp Hannon and Assemblymember Steven Englebright. All three legislators have championed our efforts to ensure clean water for all New Yorkers, and supported many of our priorities in the 2017 legislative session.
Proceeds from the Long Island Cocktail Party will help advance critical environmental efforts in the region. Become a sponsor or purchase tickets today!
