NYLCV Victory Fund Launches Six-Figure Ad Buy to Defeat Anti-environmental Legislators and Elect Environmental Champions

Campaign targets Assembly Members  Brian Curran and Alec Brook-Krasny for their “Bad News” record of failure to protect public health.  Calls on voters to support the re-election of Senator Lea Webb who has been “Good News” for environmental and public health protections in her first term in office.

The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) Victory Fund is launching a   six-figure advertising campaign to hold anti-environmental state legislators accountable and support leaders who prioritize a clean and healthy future for all New Yorkers. The Fund’s targeted ad buy includes a robust digital and mail campaign to reach voters in each district.

The campaign focuses on defeating Assemblyman Brian Curran (R-Nassau County) and  Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny (R-Brooklyn) in favor of their opponents Judy Griffin and Chris McCreight, respectively. The NYLCV Victory fund is also supporting the re-election of Senator Lea Webb (D-Binghamton/Ithaca).

Curran and Brook-Krasny both received a failing 21% on NYLCV’s State Environmental  Scorecard. It’s a record that shows they’re out of step with voters on critical environmental and public health legislation.

The six-figure campaign highlights two pieces of bi-partisan legislation that Curran and Brook-Krasny opposed: one that would make it so New Yorkers have the right to know if their drinking water was running through lead pipes, and another that would ban PFAS, or“forever chemicals,” from being used in women’s healthcare products.

Conversely, the campaign highlights Senator Webb’s perfect 100% score and “Rising Star” designation on NYLCV’s annual scorecard and her steadfast commitment to the environment. In a district where she won by just 2 points in 2022, this campaign aims to  ensure that voters recognize her leadership on critical issues like the Clean Fuel Standard and EV-charging infrastructure.
