The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) is the only statewide environmental organization in New York that fights for clean water, clean air, renewable energy and open space through political action. We’re non-partisan, pragmatic and effective. Along with its sister organizations, the NYLCV Education Fund, NYLCV Gives Green and NYLCV PAC, we educate the public about a broad range of important issues, evaluate the performance of elected officials, and endorse and elect by campaigning for the passage of laws during the legislative season and candidates in the electoral season.
We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our staff as Offshore Wind (OSW) Campaign Manager. The Campaign Manager will report to the President and be responsible for helping Wind Works New York and NYLCV advance a clean energy future, specifically focused on furthering a successful offshore wind program in New York State.
The Campaign Manager will be the key coordinator for the statewide OSW coalition, Wind Works New York including collaborating closely with founding partner, Citizens Campaign for the Environment. Other activities include public education, strategic communications, policy, stakeholder engagement, coalition management and more. The ideal candidate is an organized self-starter who is passionate about clean energy.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Manage the Wind Works New York coalition, including convening regular meetings, member recruitment and engagement;
- Collaborate with coalition leaders to identify campaign needs and develop strategy;
- Participate in public engagement events, including public hearings;
- Coordinate with communications consultants to regularly update the coalition’s website and help craft key messaging;
- Provide regular updates to Wind Works list serve;
- Work closely with the OSW industry to stay up to date on projects and share information;
- Engage with local elected officials and other local spokespeople to develop strategies for amplifying the voices of supportive leaders;
- Track state and local offshore wind investments, project approvals, policy issues, and opportunities for intervention and advocacy;
- Work closely with NYLCV’s policy team to stay on top of federal, state and local administrative decisions and policy priorities;
- Work with NYLCVEF’s programs team on developing public events and a public education strategy;
- Work with NYLCVEF’s team to arrange and schedule educational events for elected leaders on offshore wind education and updates.
- Track activities and metrics, and capture success stories for grant reporting and future funding proposals.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years of relevant experience and experience with campaign or project management preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work competently with varied stakeholders across sectors
- Highly organized and ability to take initiative and work independently
- Excellent oral communication skills. Competency communicating effectively with members of the public and stakeholders from a variety of political and social backgrounds
Work Location: The ideal candidate for this position is based on Long Island. The candidate is expected to work at least one day a week at the headquarters of Citizens Campaign for the Environment in Farmingdale. NYLCV’s headquarters is in lower Manhattan and works in a hybrid work environment. Applicants must be willing and able for frequent travel locally and regionally, in particular on Long Island and in New York City.
Work Hours/Schedule: Full time, Monday – Friday, 9:30AM – 5:30PM with occasional evenings and weekends to attend events
Pay: $65,000-$75,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
