Duration: Approximately 12 weeks, but up to 24 weeks

Location: Remotely on Long Island with occasional travel to New York City
About The New York League Of Conservation Voters:
NYLCV is a non-profit community-focused advocacy group committed to environmental justice and sustainable initiatives. We empower local communities through education, outreach, and advocacy campaigns aimed at promoting clean energy solutions and equitable public spaces.
Position Summary:
The New York League of Conservation Voters is seeking one or two dedicated and passionate Organizers to join our team. This position will support the programs team in community outreach, canvassing, and advocacy efforts related primarily to offshore wind, clean water, and voting. Organizers will be responsible for organizing nonpartisan outreach efforts with partners, community groups, libraries, etc. at events in the area, which will include distributing nonpartisan educational information about the topics, collecting petition signatures and voter pledges, and encouraging early voting and support for offshore wind.
Key Responsibilities:
– Assist in community outreach efforts to promote awareness and advocacy for NYLCV’s environmental priorities including offshore wind, clean water, and voting as part of Our Vote is Our Power program.
– Represent NYLCV-EF at tabling events and community engagements during weekdays and weekends
– Support data entry for campaigns
– Make calls or work with group of volunteers on call-days or other types of community outreach
– Identify potential events to attend and opportunities for canvassing
– Build relationships with community members and local organizations
– May develop advocacy materials (e.g., fact sheets, one pagers) for campaigns
Qualifications:
– Strong interest in environmental issues, voting, renewable energy, and social justice
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Highly organized and detail-oriented
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
– Experience with Google Suite
– Previous experience in get out the vote (GOTV) efforts, environmental advocacy, and/or community organizing is preferred
– Experience working with volunteers is a plus
– Knowledge about the voting process, renewable energy, and Suffolk County water quality and conservation is preferred
– Ability to attend events and meetings on weekends or outside of traditional work hours
– Have a car with a clean driving record or the ability to easily travel around Long Island
