NEW YORK LEAGUE OF CONSERVATION VOTERS ENDORSES PRO-ENVIRONMENT CANDIDATES FOR 2021 ELECTION
NYLCV is the only NY environmental group that endorses and scores candidates
New York, NY – The New York League of Conservation Voters Gives Green has announced its latest round of endorsements in the 2021 general election cycle, endorsing 12 candidates for local elections across New York. This year, 270 candidates sought NYLCV’s endorsement, a record number. NYLCV Gives Green is endorsing in 100 races across the state, the most ever for municipal elections in the organization’s history.
“With climate change at our doorstep, we must prioritize environmental policy at every level of government to protect our communities from extreme weather, provide clean air and water, and create green jobs across New York. NYLCV saw a record number of candidates seeking an endorsement this year, a clear indicator that our local leaders are prioritizing tackling the climate crisis and environmental protection. We are confident that these endorsed candidates will be strong advocates in our climate fight at the local level. We urge voters to support them in the upcoming general election,” said Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters.
Every election year, NYLCV develops candidate questionnaires based on the League’s regional policy priorities. The NYLCV Board voted to make the endorsement on the recommendations of NYLCV Chapters across the State, which makes decisions based on interviews with the candidates and questionnaire responses.
