Sammy Chu
Sammy Chu serves as CEO of Edgewise Energy, a NY based clean energy development firm, and President of Caltech Electric, an IBEW signatory electrical contracting firm. A proven leader in promoting market adoption of energy efficiency, he was the founding director of the Town of Babylon’s Long Island Green Homes Program, the first operationalized property assessed clean energy program (PACE) in the nation. Chu previously served in the administration of Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone as Chief of Staff and as commissioner of the county’s Department of Labor, Licensing & Consumer Affairs. He was the lead county official in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, tasked with coordinating response and recovery. A staunch advocate of inclusive, sustainable development, Chu was instrumental in creating workforce opportunities for traditionally underserved individuals during the planning and development of the transformative Wyandanch Rising project.
Chu serves as a board member for several non-profit agencies, including the Long Island chapter of the American Red Cross, the EAC Network, and the Long Island chapter of the USGBC. Chu also serves as a trustee of Molloy University and was appointed by Governor Kathy Hochul to serve on the board of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
