David J. Freeman
David J. Freeman is a Director in the Real Property and Environmental Department at Gibbons P.C.
Mr. Freeman specializes in representing buyers, sellers and developers of contaminated properties (“brownfields”) and is also active in litigation involving the cleanup of hazardous wastes under Superfund and other federal and state statutes.
Mr. Freeman serves as Co-Chair of the Committee on Hazardous Waste/Site Remediation of New York State Bar Association’s Environmental Law Section; Co-Chair of the Section’s Task Force on Brownfields/Superfund Reform and is the recipient of the Section’s 2001 Distinguished Service Award. Freeman is also Chair of the Legislative/Policy Committee and is a past President of the New York City Brownfield Partnership.
Mr. Freeman is a contributing author to the American Bar Association’s Handbook, Environmental Aspects of Real Estate and Commercial Transactions, and is an update editor for the West Publications treatise, Environmental Law and Regulation in New York.
Freeman is the Former Editor-in-Chief of West Publications’ Journal of Environmental Law & Practice. His past experience also includes his position as Special Legal Counsel for North American Environmental Affairs, United Nations Environment Programme.
