NYLCV released the following statement in response to NYC Mayor de Blasio’s State of the City Address:
Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, said, “We are pleased that Mayor de Blasio included climate action as part of his State of the City address. Bringing renewable energy into the city through hydropower and transitioning away from fossil fuels will improve air quality and reduce pollution while prioritizing environmental justice. Reimagining our streetscape with more bike and bus lanes, expanding public spaces, and permanently opening streets are long-needed policies that improve mobility and access to open space. Now, it’s time to invest resources in environmental programs including waste reduction efforts and improving parks. We look forward to working with government stakeholders on these initiatives.”
