Statement on Executive Budget Proposal

The New York League of Conservation Voters issued the following statement in response to Governor Cuomo’s proposed executive budget:

Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, said, “We applaud Governor Cuomo for his continued focus on our environment and clean energy, demonstrating that it is a priority by funding critical projects throughout New York. By proposing the NY Parks 100 initiative, including an additional $500 million for clean water infrastructure, and preserving the $300 million Environmental Protection Fund in his executive budget, he is protecting our water and open spaces. New staff and a streamlined tax code will encourage renewable energy siting and bring us closer to the green energy economy of our future. We cannot address climate change without combating transportation pollution and prioritizing transit bus electrification is a significant step forward. We will continue to advocate for additional NYLCV priorities, including a clean fuel standard, to be included in the final budget agreement. We commend Governor Cuomo for making climate change a priority in his executive budget.”
