Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, said, “It is despicable that the Trump Administration is now finalizing a rollback of Obama-era clean car standards that would have cut pollution and cleaned our air. The COVID-19 crisis illustrates the importance of protecting those with respiratory illnesses like asthma and cutting emissions from cars will do just that. Clean car standards are clearly necessary and we are pleased that some car companies are already implementing them. We will continue to work for stricter environmental standards, especially in the transportation sector which is the largest contributor to climate change.”
