The New York League of Conservation Voters released the following statement in response to Governor Cuomo’s 2020 State of the State proposal to ban styrofoam:
Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, said, “Polystyrene foam is non-biodegradable and difficult to recycle. Restricting its use in food containers and packing peanuts will reduce the amount of waste going to landfills and help keep our waterways clear. Reducing the amount of waste we produce is an important part of protecting the environment and we thank Governor Cuomo for leading the way on this issue.”
