The New York League of Conservation Voters released the following statement in response to the White Paper advanced by the New York State Department of Public Service (DPS) and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)
Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, said, “New York is leading the way on combating the climate crisis and this White Paper recognizes that we need an all of the above strategy to reach our ambitious goals. The new Clean Energy Standard of 100% carbon-free electricity by 2040 will help jumpstart the economic recovery and invest $70 million in training in family-sustaining green jobs. Critically, the state is taking important steps to rectify environmental injustices of our past. The White Paper also proposes targets that will help achieve our goals of 9 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2035 and invites comment on hydropower and other legacy renewable projects in our state. We look forward to working with stakeholders as these proposals move forward.”
