NYLCV Reacts to Gov. Cuomo’s Announcement on Plastic Bag Ban and Expanded Bottle Bill

NYLCV today released the following statement regarding Governor Cuomo’s announcement that a plastic bag ban and expanded Bottle Bill will be included in his 2019 Executive Budget.

Patrick McClellan, State Policy Director of the New York League of Conservation Voters, said, “We are pleased by Governor Cuomo’s announcement of waste reduction measures as part of his 2019-20 Executive Budget. His commitment to banning plastic bags while allowing local governments to make even stronger policies to address other bags, and expanding the Bottle Bill is a vital first step towards addressing the crisis faced by municipal recycling programs. We look forward to working with the Governor and legislature to ensure proposals to address plastic and other single use bags and expand the Bottle Bill are enacted.”
