NYLCV President Julie Tighe Reacts to State Senate Passing Clean Fuel Standard

“We are thrilled to see the State Senate overwhelmingly pass a Clean Fuel Standard (CFS) for the second straight year. A CFS is one of the most effective tools we can employ to reduce planet warming emissions and air pollution from the transportation sector. Canada as well as California, Washington, and Oregon have proven the efficacy of this climate-friendly policy—a policy, it is worth noting, that would have an impact on one of the most polluting sectors of the economy on day one. We commend Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Senator Parker, and all Senators who voted in favor of this NYLCV scorecard bill, as it marks a clear and steadfast commitment to combating climate change. Now it’s time for the Assembly to step up and pass this measure for the good of the state and the health of all New Yorkers.”
