NYLCV Endorses Candidates Across New York State

League announces endorsements of Governor Hochul, Attorney General James, and Comptroller DiNapoli, in addition to eight State Assembly candidates

New York – The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) announced its third round of endorsements for the 2022 election cycle, headlined by endorsements for three statewide offices: Kathy Hochul for Governor, Letitia James for Attorney General, and Thomas DiNapoli for Comptroller.

“The environment, more than ever, is a priority for voters, as protecting our water, air, and open spaces, and fighting climate change are issues facing every community across New York State. From advocating for clean energy and clean transportation, to combating the waste crisis and so many more issues that intersect with the environment, it is critical that New York voters know which candidates are taking action and that we are holding elected officials accountable,” Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, said, “We need a Governor who knows that a healthy environment, fighting climate change and clean energy go hand in glove with a strong economy and vibrant communities and Kathy Hochul has been delivering on that promise. We need an Attorney General who will hold polluters accountable and enforce our laws to protect public health; Letitia James has a strong track record on this front. And we need a Comptroller who is committed to investing in the green energy economy and holding government accountable, which Tom DiNapoli continues to do year after year. We are proud to endorse this slate of candidates across the state who have proven records of support for the environment.”

“In New York, we know that the climate crisis is happening now and we know that it’s up to us to do everything in our power to fight back,” said Governor Kathy Hochul. “I am honored to partner with the New York League of Conservation Voters to build a cleaner, greener future for all New Yorkers and I’m committed to protecting this state for generations to come.”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the New York League of Conservation Voters, an organization on the frontlines of the climate crisis that shares my commitment to protecting the environment for all New Yorkers,” said Attorney General Letitia James. “Throughout my career, I have defended critical environmental protection laws, gone after companies that illegally dump and pollute in our parks and neighborhoods, and sued corporations to ensure our air and waterways are clean. I will continue to stand up to anyone and everyone who endangers our natural resources and puts New Yorkers in harm’s way.”

“Climate change represents a fundamental threat to our world, the safety of our communities, and our future. Confronting this threat while making our state more resilient is one of my top priorities as State Comptroller, and I’m honored to receive the NY League of Conservation Voters endorsement, ” said Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli. “As State Comptroller, I have taken bold steps to protect the state pension fund’s investments. I developed a groundbreaking Climate Action Plan and set an aggressive goal of transitioning the fund to net zero carbon emissions by 2040. Together with the NYLCV, we’re moving New York forward while protecting our finances and working families.”
