June 4, 2025 — The New York League of Conservation Voters Gives Green today endorsed Chuck Lesnick for Yonkers City Council President, a position he previously held from 2006 to 2013.
“From launching the saw mill river daylighting project to leading on clean energy, transit access, and green infrastructure, Chuck Lesnick has been a trailblazer for sustainability in Yonkers,” said NYLCV president Julie Tighe. “His strong environmental record and his vision for a healthier, more resilient city make him a standout candidate. We are proud to endorse him for Yonkers City Council President.”
NYLCV’s Westchester Chapter Board Chair Julie Chang joined Lesnick for the announcement today in front of the Groundwork Hudson Valley’s Science Barge in Yonkers.
“This endorsement isn’t just about Chuck’s many accomplishments, it’s about his vision for the future,” said Chang. “He understands that building a greener, healthier, more equitable Yonkers requires dedication, smart policy and strong partnerships, and that’s the kind of leadership NYLCV Gives Green is proud to support.”

This brings the total number of NYLCV Gives Green-endorsed candidates to 47 in advance of the primary election. Early voting in the primary will run from Saturday, June 14 – Sunday, June 22 ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
