STATEMENT FROM NYLCV PRESIDENT JULIE TIGHE ON THE CONFIRMATION OF AMANDA LEFTON AS COMMISSIONER OF THE NYS DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

Congratulations to my friend Amanda Lefton on her confirmation as Commissioner of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. At a time when the federal government is rolling back environmental protections and retreating from the climate fight, New York needs strong, forward-thinking leaders like Amanda to safeguard our natural resources and advance our clean energy transition. From her groundbreaking work as Director of BOEM, where she helped usher in a new era for offshore wind energy, to her leadership in the private and nonprofit sectors, and most recently as Interim DEC Commissioner, Amanda has demonstrated the kind of vision, expertise, and commitment required to tackle New York’s most pressing environmental challenges, and we look forward to working with her and the DEC in the months and years ahead.
