The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) is a non-partisan organization dedicated to advancing environmental policy through political action and community engagement. We advocate for clean energy, water conservation, and climate resilience across New York State.
Position Summary:
NYLCV is seeking a Policy & Communications Associate to support legislative and advocacy efforts. This part-time, temporary role will focus on policy research, stakeholder engagement, and communications related to NYLCV’s policy priorities. The ideal candidate is a strong writer with a background in environmental policy, legislative affairs, or public relations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor legislative and policy developments relevant to NYLCV’s priorities.
- Assist in drafting policy memos, fact sheets, blog posts, and press materials.
- Support social media and digital advocacy campaigns.
- Conduct research on environmental legislation, policy trends, and key stakeholders.
- Assist in organizing forums, advocacy events, and public outreach efforts.
- Track media coverage and compile press clips.
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in environmental policy, legislative affairs, and communications.
- Excellent writing and research skills.
- Familiarity with New York State legislative processes and environmental issues preferred.
- Experience with social media, press materials, and digital advocacy a plus.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Flexible availability, including occasional evening or weekend events.
Compensation & Schedule:
- $20/hour, 20 hours per week through November (approximately 40 weeks).
- Flexible scheduling required.
