New York voters turned out on Election Day to deliver a resounding victory for the environment! Voters approved Proposition 1, the $4.2 billion Environmental Bond Act, and elected environmental champions up and down the ballot.
NYLCV NYC Program Associate Carlos Castell Croke testified at the City Council Finance Committee Executive Budget hearing. We advocated for funding for parks as well as staffing in critical environmental offices.
We recently released our priorities for the New York City Fiscal Year '22 budget, highlighting four major areas: parks, organic waste management, electric school buses and building emissions. We also testified in support of these priorities at various City Council budget hearings.
The State Assembly and State Senate each released their one-house budgets last week and included investments in several of our environmental priorities such as a $3 billion Environmental Bond Act and an expansion of the Environmental Protection Fund.
