Even though 2020 has been a difficult year, this Climate Week should be a time to imagine what New York can look like in a decade if we commit to rebuilding stronger and greener, with an ambitious vision for the future that centers around sustainability and fairness.

We released a report with the Citizens Budget Commission identifying existing fiscal policies at odds with the goals of the landmark Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA).

Prior to the global pandemic, global air travel was projected to grow tremendously. As air travel slowly begins to pick up where it left off, we review how the airline industry is prepared to reduce its carbon emissions.

The Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) has established New York’s ambitious and comprehensive climate and clean energy law. One of the main goals of the Act is to move the state toward achieving the 2040 Zero Emission Target.

The state’s proposed $3 Billion Environmental Bond Act includes $700 million in funding for climate change mitigation projects, including green and energy-efficient buildings, carbon sequestration and emissions mitigation, climate adaptation and mitigation, urban forestry, and air and water pollution reduction.

The $3 billion Environmental Bond Actwill provide $550 million for open space land conservation and recreation projects if approved by voters this fall.
