Could the long dreamed of pedestrian path along the Hudson River shoreline through the northwest Bronx soon become a reality? Thanks to $250,000 in federal funding secured by Senator Jeff Klein, the Hudson River Greenway is one step closer to fruition.

Mayor Bill de Blasio has taken a major step forward for New York City’s parks. According to the Daily News, the city is adding additional funding its Community Park Initiative, allowing for park redesign and improvements.

According to the Adirondack Council’s annual report, the upstate New York forest preserve still faces serious challenges. Despite Governor Andrew Cuomo’s efforts to protect the park, outside interests stand poised to stake claims in the land.
