Senator Todd Kaminsky is running for reelection to represent State Senate District 9. Kaminsky has represented his district since being elected in 2016 and currently holds the position as Chair on the Environmental Conservation Committee. Kaminsky has exhibited tremendous effort in driving the policy agenda for the environment by sponsoring a multitude of avid environmental legislations including Bill S6599, the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, which seeks for New York to adopt measures to reduce greenhouse emissions 85% by 2050. Bill S6599 was passed in 2019. Kaminsky also sponsored the passed S2316 Bill, which prohibits offshore drilling for oil and natural gas along New York’s coastal areas. In the 2019 questionnaire, Kaminsky indicated that he continues to “frequently host environmental awareness events in [his] district, and work with local organizations that seek to protect our natural resources.” Kaminsky received 100% in the 2019 State Environmental Scorecard. In future sessions, Senator Todd Kaminsky has committed to further propelling constructive policies set to ensure statewide advancement in safer water standards, reducing carbon emissions and sustainable agricultural practices.
