Elected in 2016 to represent the 9th District in the State Senate, Todd Kaminsky swiftly distinguished himself as a champion on a large span of environmental issues. From being a ranking member of the Committee on Environmental Conservation to hosting in-district environmental awareness events with local organizations, Kaminsky has been a consistent advocate for conservation and community resilience initiatives.
In addition to fighting to protect Nassau County’s aquifers from pollutants, he secured funding to fortify the South Shore, allowing for the restoration of tidal wetlands, pedestrian boardwalks and infrastructure to prevent flooding in Island Park and along Hook Creek. Within the past legislative session, he sponsored bills enacting the New York State Climate Responsibility Act, providing Long Island residents with water usage information and calling for the removal of certain harmful toxins from cosmetic or cleaning products. His voting record earned him a 100% on the NYLCV 2018 Environmental Scorecard, signaling his support on initiatives from expansions of clean energy use to financing mass transit.
Looking forward, Kaminsky will remain committed to enhancing green building development, strengthening New York’s coasts and investing in fossil fuel alternatives, such as wind.
