Shekar Krishnan

Shekhar Krishnan is seeking re-election to represent District 25 in the New York City Council. In his past year in office, he has served as chair of the Parks Committee, working to expand NYC Parks’ budget and increase the number of green spaces in the city. He supports programs that build public green infrastructure in underutilized and underserved spaces, the improvement of public cooling frameworks, and the expansion of nutritional programs throughout schools and community centers. If elected, Krishnan will work to expand the city’s tree canopy to 30 percent by 2035, achieve the 1 Percent for Parks budget, and advocate for the electrification of the city fleet.
