Shekar Krishnan is running for re-election as New York City Council, District 25

Shekar Krishnan is running for re-election to represent District 25 in the New York City Council. Krishnan has been a steadfast advocate for climate action, recognizing that while the climate crisis threatens everyone, its impacts are felt most by marginalized communities. As chair of the Parks Committee, he has championed efforts to expand and protect New York City’s green spaces. Under his leadership, the Council held its first-ever hearing on the city’s tree canopy, and he successfully secured hundreds of permanent jobs and expanded green spaces in underserved neighborhoods. He has been a driving force behind the creation of a linear park on 34th Avenue in Jackson Heights, transforming one of Queens’ most park-deprived areas. Krishnan has also worked alongside NYLCV to advance crucial climate legislation, earning an “A” rating for his environmental efforts. If re-elected, he will continue to push for bold, sustained action to combat climate change, strengthen the city’s environment, and improve public health for all communities.
