Shawyn Patterson-Howard

Shawyn Patterson Howards is running for re-election for Mayor of Mount Vernon. During her time in office, the city has launched multiple energy efficiency projects and is currently implementing a state-funded environmental justice grant to upgrade the city’s sewer system to improve water quality, reducing flooding and runoff into the Hutchinson and Bronx Rivers. She has initiated the purchase and distribution of new residential recyclable bins, the planting of new trees and the creation of a Tree Advisory Board, and is working with private industry to divert biological waste to green energy projects. If elected, Howards plans to prioritize investments in greenery in the city and to continue improving the quality of life through environmental initiatives.
