Since taking his seat in the assembly in 1970, Richard Gottfried has proved to be dedicated to making environmental progress in New York. Among Gottfried’s numerous efforts include authoring the Hudson River Park Act, helping to create and fund the Occupational Health Clinic network and Child Environmental Health Clinic networks, strongly oppose fracking by sponsoring legislation, testifying, and holding public hearings, and serving as a Chair of the Health Committee.
A true advocate for the environment, Gottfried’s work towards legislation to ban single-use plastics, improve air quality, move towards renewables and clean energy, and make enormous efforts to combat climate change are just some of the initiatives that have earned him a 94% on NYLCV’s 2018 Environmental Scorecard.
