Peter Barber

Peter Barber is running for re-election as Supervisor of Guilderland. Under his leadership, the town has adopted a Native Tree Preservation Law that includes a Forestry Plan with goals such as adding parklands and open space, preserving 30% of natural land, promoting affordable housing, responding to climate change, and encouraging pedestrian and bicycle connections. The town has also installed long-term solar panels and implemented energy usage monitoring. Guilderland has adopted a climate-smart community resolution, which includes replacing bulbs with LEDs and sponsoring a community garden with nearly 100 lots available for residents. If re-elected, Barber hopes to grow these initiatives further and work on transit-oriented development, such as establishing sidewalks and bicycle connections, as well as advancing water quality testing measures for the county.
