Michael Blake, State Assembly representative of the 79th District, has been a staunch protector of community health and promoter of crucial environmental policies state-wide. A champion of working with local organizations, Blake is tuned into the needs of the district to bring access to fresh produce, clean air and sustainable development.
Blake has worked closely with Green Bronx Machine, a group committed to bringing wellness education to marginalized areas, and neighborhood parents to institute garden projects and nutritional programs in schools. Functioning hand-in-hand with this initiative is Blake’s dedication to reduce food waste, demonstrated by his collaboration with 100 Black Men of NY, HERE TO HERE, Bronx Drafthouse, and Willie and Aikisha to encourage food donation and improve food quality and insecurity. He is passionate about the necessity of bringing solar to the Bronx, teaming up with BlocPower and OnForce Solar to facilitate renewable energy infrastructure. Not only does Blake heavily involve himself with grassroots action among his constituents, but he has supported a large-range of legislation such as his co-sponsorship of the Clean Water Bond Act of 2018 and votes for electric vehicle charging incentives and the establishment of 100% clean energy by 2030. He helped curate the Smart Cities New York conference to illustrate the need for increased resiliency planning and preparation.
If re-elected, Blake will continue his devotion to improving the quality of life for all state residents, through the establishment of a living wage rate, regulation of toxic chemicals and augmented funding for public parks.
