Maria Moore

Maria Moore is running for election as Town Supervisor for Southampton. She has served as the Mayor of Westhampton Beach since 2014. She spearheaded a significant renovation project on the village’s Main Street in that role. The project involved the replacement of 100-year-old storm drains, the installation of two large hydrodynamic separators with backflow valves, permeable pavers, LED lighting, structural soil under the street trees, extensive landscaping, underground utilities, and pedestrian safety features, including traffic circles and curb extensions. The project was awarded the 2021 ACED Engineering Excellence Award and nominated for the 2023 Suffolk County Smart Growth Award. Under her leadership, the village has also completed the installation of sewers in the downtown area, which will reduce nitrogen in the bay by 5,000 pounds per year, representing a 24% reduction. The town is finalizing a Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan that provides an overview of existing conditions, analysis, and recommendations for future projects to improve water quality and flooding and also protect natural resources. Moore intends to work on these initiatives alongside the community if she is elected as Town Supervisor.
