Keith Batman has made significant strides towards improving our environment and hopes to continue doing so while serving New York State Assembly District 126. As former Chair of the Cayuga County Legislature, Chair of the Cayuga County Parks Commission, and member of the Cayuga County Board of Health and Water Quality Management Agency, Batman has focused on improving the health of New Yorkers and their environment.
During Batman’s time as Chair of the Legislature, he successfully introduced legislation to ban the application of fracking waste on County roads. He was also instrumental in leading efforts to ban horizontal fracking in the community as well as getting the County to sign onto a regional community solar project that encouraged individual adoption of solar through economies of purchasing and installation.
Additionally, Batman helped Cayuga County achieve Green Community designation by NYSERDA, making the County eligible for the first $250,000 grant to implement projects aimed at reducing the County’s carbon footprint. Proposed application of the grant includes replacing inefficient lighting and increasing electric vehicle and charging stations.
As a founding member of the Cayuga County’s Lead Task Force, a group focused on educating about the dangers of lead poisoning and reducing exposure of children to lead poisoning, Batman has demonstrated that he is also committed to protecting his community from toxic chemicals. Moreover, he has voiced support for incorporating climate change into public and private planning, increasing funding for water and wastewater infrastructure, and assisting new farmers.
If elected to serve on the State Assembly, we are hopeful that Batman will become a superhero for the environment, taking his skills to new heights and enacting necessary change.
