Kathee Burke-Gonzalez

Kathee Burke-Gonzalez is running for election as Supervisor for the Town of East Hampton. Gonzalez has served as Deputy Supervisor for the past decade. Throughout her service, she has been a leader in preserving open space and farmland, delivering water quality improvement projects, advancing the transition to renewable energy, and utilizing science and skilled planning to address rising seas and coastal erosion. In 2014, Gonzalez supported East Hampton’s policy to meet 100% of annual community-wide energy consumption in all sectors with renewable energy sources by 2030. And more recently, in 2021, she participated in the Town Board declaration that a climate and ecological emergency exists, making emissions mitigation a guiding principle when considering all municipal operations and decisions. Gonzalez is advancing the East Hampton Town Board’s “All Hands on Housing ” initiative for all-electric affordable housing projects with rooftop solar and sustainable landscaping. If elected, Gonzalez plans to achieve Silver-level status for East Hampton as a Climate Smart Community and will continue to prioritize protecting drinking water and promoting renewable energy.
