As Founder of the Tappen Park Community Partnership, she worked with organizations such as the Snug Harbor Cultural Center to promote park cleanups, gardens, and sustainable food systems in New York City. Furthermore, as the founder of the YouthBuild Staten Island, she has worked on bringing a community greenhouse to Staten Island. Hanks is in favor of more reduced emissions transportations as well as more bike lanes and sidewalks. She is a proponent of Local Law 97 to retrofit large commercial buildings to meet carbon emissions caps by 2024. If elected, Hanks will fight for the environment by helping to transition NYC to a leader in combating climate change.
